Fluency
The main goal is fluency. Remember that you don’t have to know many complex grammatical structures to achieve that goal! First of all try to speak as fluent as possible (even making some grammar mistakes). Then, after making your speaking fluent, you can focus on grammar aspects.
Remember:
Make corrections in a polite way. You don’t want to put the person down for making a mistake. You can’t improve a language without making mistakes! Remember to speak slowly enough so that they can understand. Increase your speed as your partner improves their listening skills. Ask your partner to slow down if you need to – don’t be afraid! You’re both here to learn. Most important: Have fun!
