What Martial Art To Choose?

What martial art is the best and why? Why did you choose this martial art? What is martial art good for? If you have these questions so keep reading and maybe you will find what you are looking for…

Martial art is about:

1.the style, system= it is about what the martial art style, system can offer you. If you want to use kicks you won’t look for a teacher of boxing, will you? It is also about teaching method(s) because lots of martial arts have their own method(s) how to teach their students. And even if the martial art you have found is great for you but the method of teaching is bad what will you do?

2.teacher= your instructor, your master must know how to teach. Even if he/she knows lots of about martial art, even if she/he is great at fighting it is not enough. The instructor, master must know something about teaching, must know something about motivation, something about types of students, must know something about natural learning etc. Without knowledge how to teach, your learning martial art will be quite hard even if you are talented for martial arts. Learning by watching your instructor, master is not enough! If you want to learn a foreign language you will look for someone who can really teach you that language and not somebody who only knows that language perfectly so look for somebody who can really teach you  and not who just know perfectly the martial art you want to learn.

You must also know if your teacher is really a teacher and not just a teacher who wants just your money. A certificate or a belt is not enough. There is really no problem to to buy that certificate or a belt and especially in the USA where lots of people are concentrated on money… So you must know who gave your teacher the certificaet or the belt. If the person is serious or not.

But even if your teacher is really a teacher of martial arts you must also know if he/she wants only your money because they are lots of teachers who are really great at fighting and also know how to teach but they are so much concentrated on their students money…

3.student= you can have the best teacher in the world but if you are a bad student than your results will be bad. Don’t blame your teacher for knowing so little about fighting because it also depends on you. So before you say you have a bad teacher or your martial art is bad because you are not able to use your fight skills in real fight situations have a look at yourself. Are you really a great student? Aren’t you lazy? Do you really train as much as you can? Do you learn how to learn martial arts or you are a passive student who waits when his/her teacher will tell you something more?

4.other things= you must know who you will train with. Will you train with just begginers or also with somebody who train the martial art relatively long? And especially what are students and teachers like who train and teach the martial art you have chosen? Are they friendly? Do they accept your reasonable questions?

Choosing Martial Art by:

Martial art is just like a weapon or a tool: there is no the best weapon, tool for every situation.

a) Choosing by your body skills=it is about your body structure, what body you have are you strong or weak or are you fast and flexible? If you know your body structure then you can choose the right martial art for you.

b) Choosing by your mind skills=it is about your character, about your temperament. If you don’t want to hit anybody then you can’t train boxing or MMA where it is necessary.

c) Choosing by your goals, what you need vs what you want= if your goal is to be a good figher, to survive a real fight then forget about choosing your martial art by your body and mind skills. Body and mind skills you can win…

Truth vs Lies: before you make your own decision what martial art to train, you must know the truth, you must know facts. ‘I think’ is not enough. ‘Somebody told me that’ is not enough. You must be absolutely sure about it. You must know…!
