Systema or Jeet Kune Do?
Because now I am into Systema I try to discover what is so great about Systema and if there is any martial art similar to Systema. Is it really true what they say about Systema or is is just all about money?
What is Systema?
Have you ever heard about Systema? No? Never mind. Systema is an Russian martial art, in English it is also called The System. But most used is Systema than The System no matter if you live in Europe or in America. If you like scientific approach to martial arts then you like Systema, if you are into developing your mind then Systema is for you. If you are interested in your health then you like Systema. Because Systema is really a complex martial art for example like Ninjutsu it has lots of things to offer. So Systema is basically about:
1.Freedom= no way as way, you must be free as much as you can there is only one limit-it must work!
2.Natural using your body and mind=it’s about body and mind laws, it’s about our health. Just have a look at people around you and you will notice how lots of people misuse their body and mind for example how lots of people breath badly, unnaturaly…
3.Self Expressing=everyone is original so why should I fight like Bruce Lee or Steven Seagal? I want to use my own way. Systema and also Jeet Kune Do will give you a chance how to be yourself, how to fight in your own way. And again there is only one limit it must work!
Systema contains:
all skills of combat
all skills of survival
all skills of conditioning
all skills of health
There are main branches of Systema:
Ryabko’s Systema and Kadochnikov’s Systema. They are basically the same, the differencies between them are minor. But it is true that Ryabko’s Systema is more popular than Kadochnikova’s. And I guess it is because of Vladimir Vasiliev who were a student of Ryabko and currently lives in Canada… But it doesn’t mean that Ryabko’s Systema is better than Kadochnikova’s, no way.
Unfortunately the more is Systema popular the more is commercial. I am not saying that martial art bussiness is bad. You know, you pay for your teacher ’s time and for your time. Your teacher doesn’t have time to have another job to make some money so you must pay him and also because he knows lots of about Systema you don’t have to experiment what works or not what means you will save your time and you know, your time is your life. But the problem is if your teacher wants only your money…

What is Jet kune do?
Jeet kune do is popular because of Bruce Lee who was its founder. The problem with Jeet Kune Do is that no one knows exactly what is Jeet Kune Do(JKD) about. Because Bruce Lee died without giving instructions what to teach, how to teach etc. And also JKD is really very commercial. Lots of people want big money for teaching you JKD even if they have never trained JKD… So it is not easy to find a good teacher of JKD.
Jeet Kune Do is about:
1. Personal freedom
2. Self Expressing
So you can see that JKD is very similar to Systema…
